Friendly Family Winery ….
Very near Panzano, the Fattoria Casaloste is a smaller family owned and run winery and olive farm. We were greeted and warmly welcomed for our visit to the farm, vineyards, cask aging facilities and tasting area. Had a nice tasting of vertical Chianti, Chianti Classico, Rosso and blends – all quite good with our taste towards the Reserva. Very informative and enjoyable. …
Mmmmmm……..great wine….great vacation
Not only was the wine great and the B&B perfect, when we asked about dancing in the region they directed us to a local community center which had a ballroom evening every weekend. We went and had a great time with the locals. Even showed them a few steps…:)
The next morning at the winery the sun was shining and we had walked to the production area past all the vines and olive trees. A memorable trip.
One to know
We came outside of working hours, and although on her lunch break, the lady gladly accepted us as visitors and explained their history of wine making. Then we had a taste of their wines, and 4 out of 5 bottles they offered were very decent. We ended up taking some Riserva, the wine was a very good vintage, majority was the san giovese grape, i think with a touch of merlot. Then i tasted their olive oil and was smitten, one of the best extra virgin oils i ever tasted, with that bitter taste at the end that only first pressing offers. We got some bottles of that too. Very good experience and i’ll look out for their wine in the future!
We were staying at Il Casselo and this vineyard was in the backyard – so to say. Petra was an excellent host and explained the family business, the region, and what went into the different wines. Highly recommend stopping here on your tour.
Small, but special setting. Very welcoming atmosphere. We were the only ones attending a stop-by wine tasting and we were not disappointed. The guide took the time to explain the process and their vineyard’s history – including the tale of why the rooster is the symbol for Chianti.
Best Vineyard we visited in Chianti region while visiting. Was greeted even when closed and was given an amazing description of each wine we tasted. That alone made the vineyard stand out, but then when tasting each wine you knew it was something special. It can be seen from the naming to the special care taken in making each wine that makes this vineyard very special. Only regret is not buying more wine, but will definitely be getting more when I return home.
Great value, so it is a winner
I chose this because of the value. it was a 1 hour tour for only 8,9 euros. all the others i saw online were about 40-50 euros and lasted a few hours. For me, i am not so interested in lengthy explanations. We tasted the grapes and there were by far the best grapes i have ever eaten in my entire life.
Ottima esperienza e degustazione
Cantina immersa nella campagna tra Greve e Panzano! Terrificante la stradina che porta alla cantina, ma ne vale la pena! La signora ci ha fatto degustare degli ottimi vini e ci ha spiegato come vengono prodotti! Davvero interessante! Lo consiglio vivamente!
A beautiful location, with amazing views. They took the time to talk you through the 4 wines they produce and you got to taste each one however the wines were very expensive for what they were – I tried a few more Chianti Classico which were much nicer at a much more reasonable price. A definite must if in the area though.
